Only one occupant was in the vehicle.
Police Officer Brad Savage arrived first to the scene and saw that the car was on fire, and it was rapidly spreading from the engine compartment to the main cabin.
Officer Savage made the split second decision to pull the unconscious driver out of the car and to safety. Had Savage not acted when he did, the flames would have trapped and engulfed the driver in the vehicle.
The driver survived and was taken for treatment at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.
Said Police Chief Joseph Perkins in a press release: “Officer Savage’s quick and decisive actions led to saving this driver’s life, and it is an example of how every second counts at the scene of an incident. Officer Savage put himself in harm’s way to rescue the driver and I commend him for his heroic response.”
