According to an article in
Jewish News an (unnamed) GMB full-timer, speaking at a GMB Christmas party in 2019, had said that claims of antisemitism in the Labour Party were a smear spread by “rich Jewish bastards”.
Although the matter had been investigated and the full-timer, now retired, had been cleared, the article continued, the current GMB Acting General Secretary Warren Kenny was so concerned about the way the investigation had been conducted that he had brought in ACAS to review the case.

A restaurant chain that asked furloughed staff to loan back part of their wages to the company to cover National Insurance and pension contributions or face the sack has repaid the money.
Tomahawk Steakhouse came under fire after allegedly asking furloughed members of staff to loan back 10% of their wages to the business or face the sack.
Now, though, the business has paid back some 500 workers, who all apparently agreed to the loan, the BBC reports.
In a letter cited by the BBC, the restaurant, which has locations in the North of England and London, told staff it had a “short-term cash flow issue and it requires your help and support”.

Tomahawk Steakhouse, which has its headquarters in Eaglescliffe and has restaurants in Darlington, Middlesbrough, Durham, Yarm and North Yorkshire, was criticised by the union GMB, which claimed staff had been told to lend the money or face the sack.
Tomahawk has agreed to repay loans taken from staff wages. A YORK steakhouse restaurant whose owner controversially asked staff to loan the business from their wages has now agreed to repay the money. Tomahawk Steakhouse came under fire from York Central MP Rachael Maskell and the GMB Union after asking staff to sign up to a voluntary loan agreement to help cover the cost of Employer NIC/Pension amounts. The speciality steak chain with restaurants in York, Beverley and Husthwaite, defended its actions at the time, saying the priority was to protect its team and business after a challenging year.
