Emergency Broadband Benefit Available

Blue Earth County is working to help build consumer awareness about the Emergency Broadband Benefit, a new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program. The temporary benefit will help to lower the cost of broadband service for eligible households during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
The $3.2B Emergency Broadband Benefit program provides a discount of up to a $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for qualifying households on qualifying Tribal lands. The benefit also provides up to a $100 per household discount toward a one-time purchase of a computer, laptop, or tablet if the household contributes more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase through a participating broadband provider.
Dry weather helps construction progress at Hwy. 14 & Riverfront

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - Progress continues at the intersection of Highway 14 and Riverfront Drive.
The interchanged closed back on May 3.
Crews have already cleared the old pavement from near Casey’s to the northside of the highway.
The plan calls for roundabouts at the on and off-ramps to help improve traffic flow.
The $2 million project is a collaboration between Blue Earth County, the city of Mankato and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Blue Earth County Library teams up with Mankato Makerspace

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) The Blue Earth County Library is teaming up with Mankato Makerspace for classes and displays.
Throughout the month of May, the Blue Earth County Library System is dedicating the display cases at the Mankato branch to work by Mankato Makerspace members.
It is all part of a year-long partnership between the two organizations.
The partnership includes Mankato Makerspace personnel teaching virtual classes on paint dipping and jewelry making, among other classes. The classes occur every Monday and are referred to as ‘Makers Monday.’
