HOUSTON, TX Coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, which means there is even more reason to celebrate this Independence Day. July 4 is almost here, so it s time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you.

Carter s Jewel Chest announces winner of its Red White & Blue pendant
Shena Loftis of Thornfield, Missouri, was the 2021 winner of the Carter’s Jewel Chest Jewels For You pendant. She presented the winning ticket June 28.
Loftis, a branch manager at Bank OZK in Mountain Home, received a one-carat total weight diamond from Facet Barcelona.
“I was really surprised,” Loftis said.
Carter’s Jewel Chest sold 10,000 tickets for its Red White & Blue Festival fundraiser this year and raised more than $8,700 that will go toward next year s festivities.
The Carter’s have been fundraising for the festival since 2005 after T.C. Carter came up with the idea to have local banks compete against each other when fundraising for the festival. Seventeen banks participated in this year’s fundraising event for the festival.

Multiple upcoming vaccine opportunities in Adair County

The Adair County Health Department has scheduled upcoming opportunities for residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The health department will be at Saturday’s All-American Red, White & Blue Festival from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. administering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to those ages 18 and older. Staff will be set up on the west side of the Adair County Courthouse in downtown Kirksville. If this will be your second dose of the Moderna vaccine, you must have received your first dose on or before June 5, 2021. If you receive your first dose on July 3, you will be eligible to receive your second dose on July 31.
