Medlab Clinical hunts $15m cash injection

Medical research and development outfit Medlab Clinical is on the hunt for an equity injection to help fund clinical trails for its chronic disease-treating therapies.

The company was hunting $15 million in fresh capital on Wednesday morning via a two-tranche placement, according to terms sent to funds.
The shares were being offering to potential investors at 24¢ each, which represented an 18.6 per cent discount to Medlabâs last close and a 26.9 per cent discount to the 30-day VWAP.
Money raised would go towards phase three clinical trials in the US, UK and Australia, as well as working capital, the term sheet said.
Ord Minnett unveils new recruits
The wealth management group has announced a number of new appointments to broaden its investment research capabilities.

Ashley Cox will join Ord Minnett’s institutional equities sales team. Mr Cox spent the last 10 years as a director for equities at Deutsche and brings more than 20 years’ experience across equities, derivatives and fixed income to the role. He has also held roles at Corus Capital, Lehman Brothers, NAB, and Merrill Lynch.
Michael Gerges will join Ord Minnett’s Sydney institutional research team as senior research analyst for healthcare. Mr Gerges joins from Blue Ocean Equities, where he covered the healthcare sector across pharmacy, pharmaceuticals, IVF clinics and diagnostic imaging.
Malcolm Wood was appointed to the private client research team and had over 30 years’ experience as an investment strategist, portfolio manager and analyst in Australia and internationally.
Michael Gerges had been appointed senior research analyst (healthcare) and joined the Sydney institutional research team from Blue Ocean Equities where he covered the healthcare sector including pharmacy, pharmaceuticals, IVF clinics and diagnostic imaging among other sub-sectors in health.
Gerges was a pharmacist having operated a network of stores around the Hunter region.
The three research analysts appointed from E. L. & C. Baillieu were James Casey and Nic Burgess (both appointed senior research analysts), and Luke Macnab who was appointed as a research analyst.
