Over the course of several elections, Benton County has tried to pass a bond measure to build a new justice system, but it has never won the vote. Now, the county has put Nick Kurth into the hot seat to find a way to get this done. We asked him about the goals and the drawbacks.

Body found after teenage boy gets into difficulty in reservoir

State police: Motorcyclist crashes avoiding bear in Barkhamsted

BARKHAMSTED A motorcyclist was injured after swerving to avoid a bear on Reservoir Road in Barkhamsted Saturday evening, according to state police.
A dispatcher with Troop B in North Canaan said troopers responded to the scene of the crash at 5:37 p.m.
He said a motorcyclist had been traveling southbound on Reservoir Road, also known as Route 219, before reportedly swerving out of the way of the bear, overturning his bike in the process.
The man was transported to St. Francis Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, according to the dispatcher.
