DeSantis awards City of Lakeland $42.9 million through DEO program

LAKELAND, Fla. â Governor Ron DeSantis on Friday announced nearly $150 million in award to local communities for more resilient infrastructure, including $42.9 million to the City of Lakeland.
The money in Lakeland is to establish a multi-component project in partnership with Bonnet Springs Park which focuses on increasing flood storage capacity to the drainage basin by improving the stormwater infrastructure and watershed quality, according to a press release.
The awards are part of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunityâs (DEO) Rebuild Florida Mitigation General Infrastructure Program. It allows governments to develop large-scale infrastructure projects to make communities more resilient to future disasters, according to a release.

COLUMBIA, S.C. Three vaccine clinics will be hosted in northeast Richland County at the end of April, in coordination with MUSC Health.
Elected officials representing Richland County including State Senator John Scott (D-Richland), State Representative Kambrell Garvin (D-Richland), State Representative Chris Hart (D-Richland), State Representative Ivory Thigpen (D-Richland), Councilwoman Gretchen Barron, Councilwoman Jesica Mackey, Councilman Derrek Pugh, and Councilman Overture Walker have partnered with MUSC Health to make these clinics happen.
The clinic locations and times are as follows:
Killian Park,1424 Marthan Rd., Blythewood, on Tuesday, April 27th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
