COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Now that weâre seeing more warm weather around the Chattahoochee Valley, some folks may be seeing more slithering critters around their homes.
Contreana Pearson, Division Manager for Columbus Animal Control, told News Leader 9 that animal control is seeing more calls around the Fountain City about snakes coming out and even up to the front steps of peopleâs homes in Columbus.
According to Pearson, the snakes are out of hibernation, and are looking for somewhere cool to spend the summer.

NELSON, Wis. – The Buffalo County Health and Human Services Department will host a walk-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Nelson this weekend, during two days of the four-day 100-Mile Garage Sale.
The garage sale will take place Thursday through Sunday in 22 Wisconsin and Minnesota communities.
The clinic, during which the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be dispensed, is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday next to Beth’s Twin Bluffs Café in Nelson.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Small businesses across the Fountain City continue to feel the sting of COVID-19, financially. One group is partnering with Columbus, in hopes of helping a few small businesses get back on their feet.
The application for the COVID-19 Small Business Economic Recovery Grant Program is open until the end of the month. It’s aimed at helping small businesses in our backyard bounce back from the impact of the pandemic.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Knox County prosecutors are asking a judge to revoke bond for a Fountain City woman accused of killing her 5-year-old daughter in 2019.
Robin Howington, 38, tested positive April 7 for Oxazepam, a prescription anxiety medication, and marijuana, court records state. She told Knox County Pretrial Services personnel she had a prescription for the medicine but hasn t been able to provide proof of that, a prosecution motion states.
She also was supposed to be wearing a GPS ankle monitor to track her whereabouts as part of her condition for remaining free pending trial. But the GPS monitor was removed after she was taken into custody in Sullivan County on April 8 on unrelated charges.
