On January 1, the Consulate General of India in Dubai, in collaboration with the Pravasi Bhartiya Sahayata Kendra (PBSK), launched the ‘Breakfast with the Consul General’ community welfare outreach programme.

Indian Consul General urges workers to plan for future 02 Jan 2021 Imran Mojib, Special Correspondent More than 180 blue-collar workers welcomed the New Year with a breakfast session with Consul General of India in Dubai Dr Aman Puri at the L&T labour accommodation in the Dubai Investment Park (DIP). The event was a part of ‘Breakfast with the Consul General,’ a monthly community welfare initiative, launched by the Consulate General of India in Dubai in collaboration with the Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra (PBSK), Dubai. The Indian consulate chose L&T’s labour accommodation as the launching point for the welfare initiative of the Indian government to support its citizens. L&T, the $21 billion leading technology, engineering, and construction conglomerate, operates in over 30 countries and has established a strong presence in the Middle East’s construction, power-transmission, infrastructure and hydrocarbon sectors over the past four decades.

A mandatory seven-day institutional quarantine, which is being applied with immediate effect, has been enforced for passengers from the UAE travelling to Maharashtra, India, Khaleej Times has learnt. The institutional quarantine will be followed by home quarantine for another seven days, Sukishini Paghare, deputy collector (land acquisition department), Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) told Khaleej Times. An official with the Consulate General of India in Dubai confirmed the policy decision by the Maharashtra government.

Earlier, on Monday, India had suspended its flights from the United Kingdom (UK), the epicentre of a fresh Covid-19 variant, till December 31 amid fears over a new wave of the viral outbreak. However, passengers coming from other countries to Maharashtra will have to be quarantined at home. All passengers, armed with negative RT-PCR tests, who departed Dubai for Mumbai and New Delhi on Tuesday, were allowed home quarantine, Neeraj Agarwal, Consul – press, information, and culture with the Consulate General of India in Dubai told Khaleej Times.
