Fox Cities: 6 communities allow residents to keep backyard chickens

Here a chick, there a chick Buchanan: The town s ordinance says no farm animal (horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, ducks, geese, turkeys, chickens, roosters, llamas and alpacas) shall be kept within the boundaries of the Darboy Joint Sanitary District No. 1, within any platted subdivision, within any residential zoned area or on any parcel of land less than three acres in size. However, chickens and roosters could be kept in those areas if the property owner obtained a special exception permit. The nonrefundable application fee for the permit is $300. Clerk-Treasurer Cynthia Sieracki said one permit was granted in 2018. Chickens and roosters can be kept by homeowners living outside the restricted areas.

The debate comes after Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert issued an advisory on Monday urging the community to wear face coverings, citing an increase in COVID-19 cases. Mayor Kaufert says the Common Council debate is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday night. The mayor says anyone that would like to attend can go to the city’s website and see the information to attend either in-person or virtual. “If we continue to embrace these reasonable measures in a consistent manner, in conjunction with vaccination, we can help get the COVID-19 under control, ultimately stopping the spread.,” said Mayor Kaufert in a release.

Neenah Common Council to vote on mask mandate

Apr 12, 2021 3:19 PM The Neenah Common Council will hold a special meeting this week to vote on a mask mandate. The ordinance would require anyone over the age of five to wear a face covering when inside a building open to the public. The mask mandate would be in effect until May 31st–unless repealed or extended by the council. The public will be able to follow the meeting virtually Wednesday night starting at 6:00.
