An officer has been charged following an investigation into allegations of accessing restricted data. In November last year, an internal investigation commenced following reports an officer – attached to a specialist command in the Northern Region – allegedly accessed restricted data from the NSW Police computer system on 31 August 2020. Following inquiries, a male senior constable was issued a Court Attendance Notice on Monday (26 April 2021), for the offence of cause unauthorised for access to restricted data held in a computer system contrary to Section 308H Crime Act (NSW) 1900. About 10.45pm on Saturday (24 April 2021), police were called to a licensed premises in Albury following reports a man had been ejected from the premises and was refusing to leave. Officers from Murray River Police District attended and issued a 37-year-old man with a move on direction. The man allegedly failed to comply and was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was issued an infringement notice for continue intoxicated etc behaviour after move on direction.

In September last year, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad established Strike Force Honda to investigate the alleged sexual assault of a 24-year-old woman by a man known to her. During the investigation, police received information relating to the alleged sexual assault of two further women – aged 19 and 21 – and two teenage girls – aged 15 and 16 – between August 2013 and March 2020.

Attempted murder charge laid over alleged stabbing

Premium Content Subscriber only A man has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged domestic-related stabbing on the Tweed. Emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing at a rural property on Tyalgum Road in Eungella, west of Murwillumbah, about 9pm on Sunday, February 7 this year. Police will allege they found a 46-year-old woman and 24-year-old man with stab wounds when they arrived at the property, home to the Krishna Village. Both people were flown to Gold Coast University Hospital in serious conditions. The woman has since been released from hospital and police say she has been receiving ongoing treatment.
