Kristen Clarke, President Biden s nominee to the assistant attorney general for civil rights in the Justice Department, walked back her past criticism of multiple moderate senators and Justice Brett Kavanaugh in a Judiciary Committee questionnaire submitted late last month.  Clarke s nomination was advanced out of the Senate Judiciary Committee on a party-line vote Thursday after a contentious hearing in April. But her nomination still hangs in the balance as four key swing-vote senators swill haven t publicly announced whether they ll vote to confirm her. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., all have yet to announce whether they will support Clarke.

Rapist's appeal on grounds jury was misled 'lacked merit', Appeal Court finds

The rape happened on the morning of December 28, 2015, following a family gathering the evening before at the house of the complainant’s sister, according to the Court of Appeal report released on Thursday. The complainant was staying with her sister in Christchurch for Christmas. Her brother and his wife, who were over from Australia, were also present. STUFF A university student who went to sleep lying next to her boyfriend woke up to find another man was raping her. (Video first published in March 2021) Mutsamwira had been dating the sister for a few weeks and she had invited him to come for drinks to meet her siblings. Mutsamwira arrived at the house about 9pm on December 27 and initially socialised with the group in the kitchen with the mood described as “jovial”.
