Jordan Burnette, 29, was initially ordered held on $20,000 bail by Bronx Criminal Court Judge Louis Nock Sunday night after the jurist reviewed the state’s bail reform laws and determined that monetary bond was legal in the case because Burnette broke glass during a burglary, which could classify his crimes as a violent felony.

After nearly 16 hours of deliberation, a jury in Cass County on Thursday night found Kylr Yust guilty of second degree murder in the death of Jessica Runions and guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the death of Kara Kopetsky.
Yust was charged in 2017 with two counts of first-degree murder after the two women’s remains were found in a wooded area in Cass County.
The families of both women were seated in the court, several in tears, as Cass County Circuit Judge William Collins instructed everyone to remain calm before the jury returned its verdict.
After about 90 minutes of deliberation, the jury that convicted Kylr Yust in the deaths of Kara Kopetsky and Jesscia Runions recommended he spend 15 years in prison for a voluntary manslaughter charge and life in prison for a second-degree murder charge.
