SHC suspends notification of police officers’ transfer from Sindh

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday suspended the Establishment Division’s notifications to transfer five senior police officers from Sindh till further orders.
The interim order came on the petition of Rashid Bohio, who challenged the transfer order of five police officers to other provinces in accordance with the federal government’s rotation policy for PSP and PAS officers. The petitioner submitted that transfer policy was structured in terms of notification of August 5, 2020 which was violative of the transfer policy. The federal government had issued the notification for transferring Fida Hussain Mastoi, Iqbal Dara Dayo, Irfan Ali Baloch, Qamar-uz-Zaman and Munir Ahmed Sheikh from Sindh to the Motorway Police and Punjab Police. High court continues stay order regarding appointment of KU VC

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday continued the interim restraining order with regard to the finalisation of the appointment of the University of Karachi’s (KU) vice chancellor (VC) till the verification in respect of candidates’ credentials and 25 research publications are obtained from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC).
The interim order came on the petition of Prof Mohammad Ahmed Qadri and Prof Moonis Ahmer challenging the selection criteria of the search committee for the KU VC’s appointment.
The petitioners’ counsel Abrar Hasan submitted that the search committee was attempting to single out petitioner Qadri by asking him to get verified his 25 research publications through the HEC.

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to file comments on a petition filed against a search committee for appointment of vice chancellor at Karachi University within 10 days.
The two-judge bench headed by Justice Mohammad Shafi Siddiqui ruled that its earlier interim restraining order for the search committee not to process the appointment of vice chancellor will continue till March 17.
When the bench took up two petitions filed against the search committee for hearing, an assistant advocate general filed comments on behalf of the search committee and another respondent.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to the local government secretary, provincial law officers and others on a petition against frequent postings and transfers of the Sindh government’s high ranking officers in the local councils of urban centres of the province Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur.
