Plea against framing of rules not maintainable, SECP and PSX tell SHC - Pakistan

Wikimedia Commons/File KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on Tuesday informed the Sindh High Court that a petition filed against framing of regulations was not maintainable as they were not liable to invite public comments about criteria. They further contended that all regulations of PSX were statutory in nature and were framed under Securities Act, 2015 and amended from time to time and binding on the petitioner and all listed companies. The Pakistan Stock Brokers Association through its lawyer had moved the SHC against the PSX and the SECP and challenged a portion [4(i)] of futures eligibility criteria for selection of securities eligible for trading, which said the securities of companies not complying with following conditions to be ineligible: “No investigation/inquiry has been concluded against the company with adverse findings of mismanagement or the compan

NAB put on notice over Sharjeel Memon’s plea for permission to travel aboard July 24, 2021 The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the special prosecutor of the National Accountability Bureau and a federal law officer on a petition filed by Pakistan Peoples Party MPA and former information minister Sharjeel Memon seeking permission to travel abroad. Sharjeel, who has been facing two NAB references pertaining to charges of Rs5.78 billion advertisement corruption and accumulation of Rs2.43 billion assets beyond known sources of income but is on bail in these cases, approached court for permission to travel aboard from time to time.

SHC issues notices on plea against encroachment July 21, 2021 KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC), Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and others on a petition seeking removal of all encroachments from the Gizri creek and the plain, and restore all natural outfalls into the sea so that storm water could flow out to the sea without any obstruction. The petitioners, Ahmad Shabbar and others, residents of Defence, submitted in the petition that the DHA had encroached upon the Gizri creek estuary and the land around the Mehmoodabad drain which was the permanent cause of flooding in the area threatening life and property of its residents during the monsoon season.
