The Sindh High Court has sought the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation s reply on a plea filed by 92 dentists employed at the KMC-run Karachi Medical and Dental College seeking payment of their dues.
Taking up the plea on Monday, a two-member bench, comprising Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Adnanul Karim Memon, warned that the case would be forwarded to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) if irregularities are found in the payment of allowances.

The Sindh High Court directed the provincial chief secretary and Sindh Food Authority (SFA) secretary on Saturday to personally monitor wheat distribution in the province and replace ineligible officials with eligible ones to ensure the fair distribution of wheat.
A two-member bench, comprising Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Adnanul Karim Memon, issued the order on a plea pertaining to the unfair distribution of wheat in Sindh and alleged corruption in the distribution of the produce.
Search committee restrained from issuing list of final candidates for JSMU vice chancellor post

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has restrained the search committee from making the final list of candidates for the post of Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) vice chancellor (VC) till further orders.
The interim order came on a petition filed by Dr Mohammad Umar Farooq challenging the formation of the search committee in absence of a chairman and shortlisting the candidates for JSMU VC.
The petitioner submitted that he had applied for the post with all the required professional documents. He submitted that the search committee meeting was to be convened under its chairman on March 16; however, the meeting was convened without the chairman of the committee who is stated to be out of country.
Zoo administration told to reply to plea seeking natural habitat for animals

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the provincial law officer, the Karachi Zoological Gardens’ administration and others on a petition seeking natural habitat for the animals housed at the city’s zoo.
S Yahya Ahmed of a non-governmental organisation said in his petition that the zoological gardens’ administration is primarily responsible for causing a significant damage to the animals housed at the zoo. Ahmed said that there have been reports of deaths and illnesses of animals at the zoo but the administration is reluctant to disclose the health conditions of the animals.
KMC, zoo administration told to shift bear cub to new habitat

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday ordered the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the administration of the Karachi Zoological Gardens to start the required procedure to shift a cub of the Syrian brown bear species to its new habitat at the zoo.
The direction came on a petition filed by Mashal Khan and others seeking orders for the zoo’s administration to keep the cub named Ranoo in its natural habitat. They said Ranoo requires special attention for its survival at the zoo.
They claimed the bear has been forcibly separated from its parents, which amounts to cruelty because the animal is still too young to survive without its parents, and that too in the severely hot Karachi weather that is very different from the cub’s natural habitat.
