Who will be occupying Singhadurbar in a month? No one cares. It should not be that way. If KP Oli fails as a pandemic-time prime minister, people should believe Sher Bahadur Deuba or Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the two most likely candidates to replace him, might do a better job. Sadly, that too is not the case. Whether Oli remains prime minister or whether Deuba replaces him, Covid-19 will continue to push the country to the brink. This lack of options is a damning indictment of our democratic process and its principal actors.
The American Civil Liberties Union is planning lawsuits against two recent laws passed by Arkansas legislators banning abortions and gender affirming medical procedures, while other laws could draw legal challenges from that group and others.
The ACLU will sue in Arkansas’ Eastern District U.S. District Court to block those two laws, said Holly Dickson, ACLU executive director.
“We’ll be filing before the bills go into effect asking that those laws never go into effect,” she said.
Dickson said Little Rock Family Practice Clinic, an abortion provider, will be a plaintiff in the lawsuit against Act 309, which bans almost all abortions except those necessary to save the life of the mother. Plaintiffs for the lawsuit against Act 626, the Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act, will include affected families whose children will not be able to receive gender transition treatments as a result of that law.

New Orleans – A New Orleans zoo canceled a six-day event intended to help build a positive relationship between the police and the community after some said it would be “unintentionally divisive.” “Though that was never the intent, Audubon Nature Institute made the decision to cancel the event,” a statement from the Audubon Nature Institute on Tuesday states, citing the community’s concern although they did not give specifics as to what community or how many in the community expressed concerns.
The “Blue at the Zoo” event scheduled to be held from May 11 to May 16 at the Audubon Zoo was canceled due to reported feedback from the community that the event might be seen as “unintentionally divisive,” as reported by The Daily Caller.
