The Indian government has reportedly threatened to throw employees of social media giants behind bars in response to the companies’ refusal to share data linked to the country’s farmer protests.
The move is the government’s way of addressing the refusal by Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter to hand over data in connection with protests against new agriculture laws by the country’s farmers, people with knowledge of the threats told The Wall Street Journal Friday.
Specific employees based in the second-most-populous nation have in some cases been named in some of the written warnings, sources told the outlet.

SB 6, the
bill to ban abortions in Arkansas, including pharmaceutical abortions in the earliest stage of pregnancy, is in a House committee today.

Rep. Mary Bentley acknowledged the bill is aimed at getting to the U.S. Supreme Court in hopes with new members it will overturn Roe v. Wade, which prohibits bans on abortion before viability of the fetus, at roughly 24 weeks of pregnancy.
She was joined by
Allan Parker, head of the Justice Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to outlawing abortion. They argue that life begins at conception and abortion is killing a human.
The Delhi High Court today gave the Delhi police time to file a response on the plea by advocate Nikita Jacob seeking anticipatory bail in the toolkit case.The matter will come up for hearing next on March 9. The police have accused Jacob of helping edit the social media toolkit on the farmer protest.
