North Yorkshire Police alerted to 'suspicious' delivery driver in red van

Historic locos are making tracks through region

Scots Guardsman No 46115 is pulling both Dalesman and Pendle Dalesman excursions over the spectacular Settle-Carlisle line. And Galatea No 45699 is hauling the Scarborough Spa Express through York to the east-coast seaside resort. Coupled-up behind each of the heritage locomotives are West Coast Railway renovated carriages, dating back to the 1950s, some of which appeared as part of the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter movies. The Dalesman will call at Skipton and Leeds, and the Pendle Dalesman at Clitheroe and Long Preston, before heading along the iconic Settle-Carlisle line. Seventy-two miles long, the route was a triumph of Victorian engineering when it opened in the 19th century – cutting through the northern Pennines and Yorkshire Dales, with 22 viaducts and 14 tunnels.

Jury should decide TV star Noel Clarke's guilt – Yorkshire Post Letters

Submitting. Yet, so far, he appears not to have been tried by a court of law or even put before a custody sergeant in a police station and charged with any offences. Do TV soaps like Coronation Street set a good example to younger people? Whether he is innocent or guilty is not a matter for me, his employers or his peers, but for a judge and jury after the due process of law has been followed. From: Barry Foster, High Stakesby, Whitby. MANY years ago I sat on a Crime Panel in a local town concerned about the rise in crime. The panel consisted of a judge, police inspector, local minister and myself as a teacher.
