Moonbeam Collective musicians create lockdown album

Songs for a Watchful World WHILE the coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating impact, lock-downs have led to many musicians carrying on being creative, collaborating, finding new and resourceful ways to do so, and trying to make sense of the times. This was the case when The Moonbeams’ main songwriter and frontman Jon Avison, and Martin Beek, a well known and respected Oxford-based artist and lyricist, got together. A lockdown project was born and the album Songs From A Watchful World was created with Martin’s words set to Jon’s tunes. Martin also provided the artwork for the project.

Shop fitter banned from driving for second time

A shop fitter admitted drink-driving A SHOPFITTER who police stopped on the A65 near Long Preston because he was driving too slowly, has admitted drink-driving for the second time within 10 years. Bhagwan Singh, 46, of Poplar Street, Huddersfield, was being followed by police at around 10.10pm on August 21, last year, towards Long Preston where the speed limit was 60mph. Police said Singh had been driving a Mercedes Sprinter van with passengers between 20 and 30mph and braking heavily and they became suspicious. After a roadside breath test proved positive he was arrested. He later gave a blood sample and was found to have 221 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.
