New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal is set to formally apologize tonight in an event at Cookman Avenue and Main Street for the role his office played in the systematic targeting of gay bars between 1933 and 1967, according to a Monday news release from his office. Historical records from the state s Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, a division of the Attorney General s office, documenting the division s actions against LGBTQ bars, have been made public. According to a Tuesday morning New York Times article, the team of assistant ABC attorney general Ray Lamboy have discovered 126 actions against 104 bars, with some closed between five to 240 days and 10 having lost their liquor licenses and closed.
