Dewey commissioners meet March 12
Dewey Beach commissioners will meet virtually at 2 p.m., Friday, March 12. Members will possibly vote to approve an ordinance to adopt the definition of “persons,” to change police staffing levels and to approve the 2022 fiscal year budget. Commissioners may also vote to approve members on the board of adjustment, planning and zoning commission, and marketing committee. 14th RD Dems to meet March 24
The 14th RD Democratic Committee has changed its March meeting date from March 10 to Wednesday, March 24; the Zoom meeting will run from 5 to 6 p.m. Area Democrats who plan to attend should email Committee Secretary Cheryl Fruchtman, c.fruchtman@comcast.net.

Rehoboth sets transportation meeting
The Rehoboth Beach Streets and Transportation Committee will meet online at 10 a.m., Monday, March 1. The agenda calls for a presentation on sharrow placement and possibilities for bike boxes by Bruce Kauffman. The Pond applies for liquor license
Under the name Fenway Barr LLC, The Pond has applied for a liquor license for its new location at 19266 Coastal Highway. Mechanicsburg councilman Joe Bucher has announced his intention to run for the borough seat he was selected to fill last year.
A longtime resident of Mechanicsburg, Bucher initially served as a volunteer on the Shade Tree Commission and the Environmental Advisory Council in 2018. In July 2020, he was chosen to fill former councilman Jack Winchell’s term.
Currently a third grade teacher in the Cumberland Valley School District, Bucher has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy from Shippensburg University, according to his campaign’s press release.
