2 members lauded with presidential awards by Rotary of Shady Brook Bucks County Courier Times LANGHORNE   Rotary Club of Shady Brooks recently held its first in-person meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic began 14 months ago. Two members, Lou Hatfield and Arthur Finkle, were selected for the 2020-21 presidential awards and presented commemorative accolades by President Bob Morris. Hatfield and Finkle were recognized for commitment and support to the club’s many service programs and initiative as well as their dedication to the organization’s financial and administrative tasks.  Hatfield was selected for the years she has dedicated time and talent to the club in its many causes and as a board member serving as secretary for the past six years. She provided detailed and timely minutes of club meetings, oversaw administrative club functions and stepped in to chair the club’s Student-of-the-Month program this year.

Cedar Hill Road Closures Starting May 10 Cedar Hill Road Closures Part Of N. Joe Wilson Rd. Expansion As part of the development of Fuel City, the second phase of the N. Joe Wilson Road Expansion is underway. For safety reasons, the City of Cedar Hill is closing the roadway in three phases. The first two phases will impact traffic the most; especially the Shady Brook Subdivision. The closing will expedite the project and allow the contractor to move forward faster and avoid transitioning traffic during the project. Beginning May 10, 2021, the first phase will close a section of roadway between Clover Hill Lane and Shady Brook Drive southward to the concrete/asphalt transition of Phase 1. Traffic from the Shady Brook will have to detour to the north from Clover Hill Lane, using N. Joe Wilson Road north of Clover Hill Lane and Wintergreen Road to US Highway 67.

Pella City Council Proceeds with Infrastructure Contracts, Pella Market Ordinance

The Pella City Council held two public hearings for two key infrastructure projects on the construction season calendar at their meeting Tuesday evening. Two resolutions were on the agenda and approved contracts for Oost Poort Alley infrastructure upgrades and the 218th Avenue and Neil Drive Reconstruction project. Council approved a contract with TK Concrete for $940,854 to reconstruct full sanitary sewer, storm sewer, underground stormwater, and paving improvements as well as downtown parking updates, and repaving with brick near the end of the project. A contract with Wicks Construction of Decorah for $1,282,721 was approved for complete conversion of gravel to hard surface for the road near the Shady Brook development, projected to cost $1.52 million.
