As someone who spent their formative years in second-hand clothes and hand-me-downs, I haven’t always found being dressed in other people’s clothes a positive experience. Violins at the ready: at school, someone recognised the highly distinctive, lime-green Crimplene dress with puffed, floral print sleeves I had been proudly wearing until they announced to the rest of the class that it belonged to Erica Jackson (not her real name), my mum’s friend’s daughter.

Picture: ASDA Supermarket chain Asda have launched a new feature in dozens of their stores across the country following a successful trial. As part of its commitment to sustainable fashion, George at Asda has announced it will be launching a new second-hand vintage fashion range in its stores, giving a new lease of life to pre-worn garments. In partnership with vintage fashion wholesaler ‘Preloved Vintage Wholesale’, the new concept will be rolled out across the UK, with customers able to buy vintage, retro and second-hand branded pieces, preventing thousands of tonnes of garments going to landfill each year.
