Do not want to burden Centre at the peak of COVID-19 second wave, he says
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday said Odisha did not want to burden the Centre at the peak of COVID-19 second wave by demanding immediate financial assistance for carrying out cyclone restoration works.
Sun Group gives ₹10 crore, Rajinikanth donates ₹50 lakh
Donations to help fund COVID-19 relief work across the State continued to pour in on Monday, with several people handing over their contributions to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
Sun Group chairman Kalanidhi Maran handed over a cheque for ₹10 crore towards the State Disaster Response Fund. Actor Rajinikanth handed over a cheque for ₹50 lakh towards the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund. Actor Vikram donated ₹30 lakh.
The Tamilnad Mercantile Bank donated ₹3 crore. The Martin Charitable Trust has proposed to donate COVID-19 relief material worth ₹3 crore in the form of oxygen concentrators, cylinders, N-95 masks and hand sanitisers. The MGM group donated ₹2 crore.

Tapovan/Dehradun: Two more bodies were recovered early Tuesday from the Tapovan tunnel where efforts were underway on the 10th consecutive day to reach workers feared trapped inside after a flash flood in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.
The confirmed death toll in the Chamoli disaster has now mounted to 58 and another 148 people are missing, an official said.
Meanwhile, Chamoli Chief Medical Officer GS Rana issued a video statement, saying all those killed in the glacial disaster suffered bodily injuries, and sludge and water entered their lungs.
