Vaikunth, city’s largest crematorium owned by
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), had turned into a vulnerable spot since the COVID-19 outbreak. Alleged negligence by the health authorities and lack of proper management have further added to the health risks, with a crowd of over 5,000 people gathering on the crematorium premises every day without abiding by any social distancing norms.
The crematorium authorities are allegedly not allowing relatives of the deceased to use different cremation sheds but instead urging them to use the same space already in use to cremate another body.
