Boston Dynamics told The Verge it was aware that its robots were being used with the French government, including the military.
Spot was announced by Boston Dynamics back in 2016 and underwent various trials before being released commercially on June 17, 2020.
Shortly after its launch last year, footage emerged of Spot patrolling a SpaceX test site in Boca Chica, Texas – suggesting multi-billionaire Elon Musk was one of the first customers.
In footage captured by Texas-based YouTuber LabPadre, the Boston Dynamics dog can be seen trotting through thick clouds of nitrogen next to the wreckage.
Leaked pictures also revealed a bright red dog house for the robot dog to sleep in, showing it has been rechristened Zeus by Musk s firm.

Boston Dynamic’s first commercial robot, Spot, has had an upgrade, with the new version of the charmingly-terrifying robot dog now adding a robot arm and the ability to self-charge. Smallest of Boston Dynamics’ models – and a quadruped, unlike the weirdly agile bipedal robots that arguably helped cement the company’s reputation as a heavyweight in the segment – Spot has been on sale to businesses since June 2020.
Then, the roughly $75,000 ‘bot was billed as a straightforward way to add a roaming robot to the workforce. Boston Dynamics already had about 150 Spot units deployed as part of an early-adopter program it had started in 2019, but the robot had graduated to a full commercial product.

Boston Dynamics added three new products to its agile mobile robot Spot to better allow for the data collection on remote or hazardous worksites.
The robotics design company is launching a self-charging Enterprise Spot, web-based remote operations software called Scout, and the Spot Arm. All three are said to enhance the robot s ability to automatically perform remote inspections and data collection as well as manual tasks, the company said in a Tuesday announcement.
Since launching Spot a little over a year ago, Boston Dynamics has worked to offer a way to automate data capture and get eyes on worksites that have complex terrain, CEO Robert Playter said in a YouTube video.
