This week s filings, which are a recent high, are, however, 14,713 fewer than the same time last year. Nationally, claims unexpectedly rose back over 700,000. These remain historically high numbers.

On March 28, 2020, the Labor Department reported 1,511 new weekly filings, an increase of 729. This week s filings, which are a recent high, are, however, 13,122 fewer than the same time last year. Nationally, claims unexpectedly rose back over 700,000. These remain historically high numbers. Weekly UI Report Regular weekly UI claims in Vermont had been edging down since late January. Governor Scott signed the Executive Order March 13, 2020 and closed restaurants and bars after lunch on March 17.
