BHUBANESWAR: Odisha lost central grants worth Rs 36,565 crore under state’s share in central taxes and duties and other sources during 2015-16 and 2019-20, said state finance minister Niranjan Pujari.
In a written reply to the state assembly on Monday, Pujari said while 14th Finance Commission had recommended Rs 1,98,412 crore for Odisha during 2015-16 to 2019-20 under state’s share in central taxes and duties, grants for local bodies and disaster management fund, the state has received Rs 1,61,874 crore during the five year.
Out of total lost amount of Rs 36,565 crore with the Centre during the five-year period, state’s share under central taxes and duties is Rs 35,096 crore, disaster management fund is Rs 620 crore and local body grant of Rs 849 crore, said Pujari. He was responding to a query of senior BJD MLA Prafulla Samal.

Mar 12 (IANS): Odisha s opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are set to corner the Biju Janata Dal government over several issues during the second phase of the Budget session beginning on Friday.
The second phase is scheduled to continue till April 9 with all Covid-19 precautionary measures in place.
The opposition parties have chalked out their strategies to attack the government, deciding to raise several issues including the rising forest fire incidents, law and order, border dispute, and irregularities in paddy procurement. The farmers are selling their paddy in distress as the Mandis are not operating. We will raise the issue. Besides, crimes are increasing in the state, said Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja.

BHUBANESWAR : Asserting that the State government has made efforts to use available resources in the best possible way, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari on Saturday said prudent resource allocation in the Budget 2021-22 will set the course for economic revival after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Terming the Budget as welfare and growth oriented, Pujari in his reply to general discussions on Budget said several reform measures have been initiated under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to enhance credibility, accountability and transparency in the budget-making process and it will give an insight into the quality of expenditure.
