OH weather: Snow is still falling, but here are latest totals for Northeast Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio Seven Hills had 3.3 inches of snow over 12 hours, leading the way in Cuyahoga County as a winter storm began to gain strength in Northeast Ohio.
According to the National Weather Service, 2.5 inches of the 3.3-inch total in Seven Hills fell in just three hours, between 5:50 and 8:50 p.m. North Royalton was just behind with 3 inches, while Shaker Heights, Lyndhurst and Westlake recorded 2.5 inches.
In Summit County, Bath and Boston Heights each recorded 2 inches, while 1.7 inches fell at the Akron-Canton Airport.
In Geauga County, considered the heart of the snow belt, Thompson Township had 2.2 inches, but no other areas in the county reported more than 1 inch of snow to the Weather Service.
GIRARD City officials are reaching out to Liberty and Weathersfield townships to see if they may be interested in forming a joint fire district.
One key element to such an organization would be agreement on a levy based on property taxes to cover fire district expenses.
Mayor James Melfi said Girard council late last year gave its approval for officials to look into what would be involved in creating a district with the city’s neighboring communities.
Melfi and Safety Service Director Jerry Lambert are expected to reach out to these communities to see if there would be an interest and then inform council at its next meeting 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22 of what has been discussed.
