WORCESTER  Christina Parissi said she loves trees just as much as any other city resident, and considers herself to be environmentally conscious.  But she also appreciates being able to get home from lunch without having it turn into a broken leg and an ambulance ride.  Why do those have to be competing interests? Why does an improvement or accommodation for one group have to be at the expense of another? Those ideas informed parallel discussions at Tuesday s City Council, where Parissi s petitions for more attention to be paid to the city s sidewalks and roads were juxtaposed, interestingly enough, with separate petitions calling for the city to pull back on plans to remove healthy but obtrusive street trees to make way for road improvements.
