Lads to wear commemorative shirts

As part of the Foundation of Light’s dedicated matchday on Saturday, the team will sport commemorative shirts. Sunderland host Accrington Stanley at the Stadium of Light this weekend and the game is being used as an opportunity to showcase the work of the club’s official charity and to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The players will each wear a shirt with a special Foundation 20th birthday logo on the chest as well as t-shirts during the warm-up with special thank you messages for the continuous support throughout the last two decades. The shirts will be auctioned after the game on eBay, with all proceeds going straight back to the Foundation to help support the work they do.

Charity showcase on Saturday

This weekend’s match against Accrington Stanley will be played against a very special backdrop as we dedicate the match to our official charity, Foundation of Light. The game will showcase the work of the award-winning community charity, celebrating its tireless support of thousands of people and families across the north east. 2021 is a very special year for the Foundation as it marks the 20th anniversary of becoming a registered charity. Over the last two decades, the Foundation has supported over half a million people across the region to improve their lives by tackling some of the region’s biggest challenges including unemployment, obesity, poor mental health and social isolation.
