Ajanta Neog in the assembly on Friday
GUWAHATI: The state budget, presented by finance minister Ajanta Neog, came as a big relief to borrowers of microfinance loans, for whom the state government has proposed a budgetary allocation of Rs 7,500 crore.
The main features of the scheme include categorization of clients into three groups headed by first category clients who have been regularly repaying their loans. Neog proposed to provide them a supportive incentive of Rs 25,000 for maintaining good credit discipline.
Category II clients are those whose payments are overdue by one to 89 days. For these clients, she said the overdue amounts would be paid. “Thereafter, once their accounts are classified as standard and they start servicing their instalments in time, they will be entitled to an incentive of Rs 25,000,” she added.
