NEWPORT Naval Station Newport has begun offering COVID-19 vaccinations to military family members ages 16 and older, TRICARE beneficiaries, Department of Defense retirees, and all civilian contract employees, and government civilian workers and retirees in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.
“Essentially anyone who has a DoD-issued ID Card and DoD ID number is now able to get vaccinated right here at Naval Station Newport,” said Cmdr. Richard P. Goodrich, officer-in-charge of the installation’s medical clinic.
According to Goodrich, the installation has been vaccinating active duty military personnel and other essential government employees who volunteered to get a shot. Based on the progress and success of the military vaccination program at Naval Station Newport, and with sufficient supplies of both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the clinic is now able to transition into providing new categories of recipients with vaccinations.
