Following a complaint from the Italian Federation of Newspaper Publishers, Italian authorities say they have carried out a preventative seizure of 10 pirate sites involved in the illegal distribution of newspapers, magazines and eBooks. The content was stored on foreign servers in violation of copyright law.
Over the past several years Italian authorities have been applying increasing pressure to multiple aspects of the piracy ecosystem.
Those involved in the illegal distribution of movies, TV shows and live sports are the most common targets but in response to a push from local publishing companies, suppliers of pirated newspapers and periodicals are also prone to enforcement measures.
