Two killed in separate Marion County crashes

ALEA Troopers say two people died Wednesday in separate crashes in Marion County.
ALEA Senior Trooper Gregory Corble said the first incident happened at about 3:07 p.m. Wednesday on Alabama 278 at the 23.5 mile marker, approximately 21 miles east of Hamilton.
Cheyenne Nichole Lawson, 43, of Hamilton, was killed when the 2002 Jeep Liberty she was driving was struck head-on by a 2018 Freightliner. The Freightliner crossed over the center line of the highway in a no-passing zone. Lawson was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Later, a two-vehicle crash happened at about 6:43 p.m. on Alabama 18 at the 43 mile marker, about two miles west of Berry.
