BERNARDSVILLE â Concerns that the winter break will spur another spike in the coronavirus led teachers in the Somerset Hills Regional School District to urge the Board of Education on Wednesday, Dec. 16, to keep the schools closed through mid-January.
At a virtually held board meeting, teachers argued the recent spike-related shutdown of schools resulted from the schools being open immediately after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
âWe need to be proactive rather than reactive,â said Lynn Weltler, president of the Somerset Hills Education Association (SHEA). âThis will ensure that we can remain in hybrid learning safely and for an extended period of time.â
