Jim Krumel: A mom is always a mom always

If they don’t know already, Shelley Ferguson of Lima, Carli Brown of Wapakoneta, Nicole Butler of Van Wert and Joanna Kaufman of Bluffton will soon find out.
Each became a new mom or a mom again last week.
That puts them in a special club. One with an honor of the highest order. One that comes with great responsibility. And one an entire nation will celebrate this Sunday on Mother’s Day.
Those who have been in this club for years will likely say their proudest moment as a mother has been raising their children. That’s something they never quit doing no matter if they’re 60 years old or in their 40s.
SHEBOYGAN FALLS - Nicole Butler and her husband, Mike, were milking a cow at the Washington County Fair when a man came up to them and said he didn t know milk was actually white when it came out of a cow.
With agriculture being a big part of their lives and careers, the Butlers were surprised by the man s comment.
That moment sparked an idea: They should buy a farm and open it to the public for people to come and learn about agriculture and life on a farm.
It took two years to find the right farm, but they eventually did and moved into their 28-acre property in the town of Sheboygan Falls at the end of 2018. The following September they launched a nonprofit, Diamond Vu.
