Cause of death released for 29-year-old York County woman found near trail

The cause and manner of death for a 29-year-old New Freedom woman who was the subject of a massive search last week in York County was gunshot by suicide.
The York County Coroner’s Office released the results Monday of the autopsy performed on Nicole Ebaugh, who had gone missing March 6. Her body was found Friday near the parking lot where she was last seen at the Heritage Rail Trail County Park on Glatfelters Station Road in Springfield Township.
According to York County Coroner Pam Gay, the autopsy showed she died from a gunshot wound to the head.

An autopsy performed on the body of Nicole Elizabeth Ebaugh ruled her cause of death as gunshot wound to the head and her manner of death to be suicide, according to York County Coroner Pam Gay.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. Update, 1 p.m. (March 12): State Police say Nicole Elizabeth Ebaugh was found dead after an week-long extensive search.
The cause or manner of the death is pending autopsy, police said. At this time, there is no threat to the public and there is no further information that we can provide regarding this investigation, State Police said in a press release. We cannot thank South Central PA Search and Rescue, Middle Creek Search and Recuse, as well as the endless number of volunteers who helped assist the Pennsylvania State Police with this investigation.
