CCHS junior chosen for Governor s School of the Arts, two other local students as alternates | WHOP 1230 AM

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 22, 2021 1:43 PM Christian County High School junior Joseph Anderson has been selected to be a member of the 2021 Governor’s School for the Arts. According to a news release from CCPS Spokesperson John Rittenhouse, Anderson was chosen for the Instrumental Music discipline, specifically for percussion.  Also, fellow CCHS junior Levi Mitchell and Hopkinsville High School junior Nicholas Laramee were selected as Alternates in the Instrumental Music discipline. GSA Scholar’s learn from distinguished teachers, create with fellow gifted students, and experience college residential life at the University of Kentucky from June 27 through July 17.

Local students chosen as members of All-State Band

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Dec 17, 2020 2:56 PM Five Christian County Public School students have were recently selected as members of the 2020 KMEA All-State Band. That’s according to a news release from CCPS Spokesperson John Rittenhouse, Christian County High School is represented by First Chair Euphonium Austin Wright and Fourth Chair Trombone Levi Mitchell, while Joseph Anderson was selected for Fourth Chair Snare in All-State Symphonic Band. At Hopkinsville High School, First Chair Euphonium Jared Chance Martin and Fifth Chair Trombone Nicholas Laramee will be representing in the All-State Band. CCHS Director of Bands, Anthony Darnall and HHS Director of Bands Grant Jones say, “KMEA All-State is one of the highest individual honors a high school musician can earn. We are both proud of all of our students who auditioned and put in countless hours of hard work and preparation.”
