Ottawa County Sheriff’s detectives investigate Holland Twp. gun fight By Peg McNichol Apr 19, 2021 7:03 AM HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) A rolling gun battle among people in three vehicles is being investigated by Ottawa County Sheriff’s detectives. Some bullets hit an occupied home near Beeline and James streets, but no one was hurt, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Nicholas Knott. The shooting started just after 7 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2021, and Knott indicated witnesses saw three vehicles traveling south on Beeline approaching James. The vehicles involved are described as a white Chrysler 300, a dark red or maroon Mini Cooper with a silver stripe along the bottom and a silver or gray Jeep Compass.

Two teens hurt in Georgetown Twp rollover crash By Peg McNichol Feb 20, 2021 8:27 AM HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) A Georgetown Township rollover crash sent two teen girls to Spectrum Heath Butterworth’s Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital early Saturday. Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nicholas Knott indicated a 17-year-old Holland girl lost control of the vehicle she’d been drive south on 48th Avenue near Barry Street just after 2:15 a.m. Feb. 20, 2021. The vehicle rolled several times, ejecting a 17-year-old Zeeland girl who had been riding as a passenger, but not wearing a seatbelt. Both girls suffered what Knott  indicated were non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

One dead after Tallmadge Twp. crash By Peg McNichol Jan 10, 2021 1:13 AM HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) A single-car traffic crash on Eighth Avenue north of Lake Michigan Drive in Tallmadge Township killed one person and seriously injured a second, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nicholas Knott. Police, called to the scene just after 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, found a vehicle had left the road and struck a tree. Both occupants, a 26 year-old Benton Harbor man and a 39-year-old Grand Rapids woman, were pinned inside. Wright-Tallmadge firefighters were able to extricate both. Crash investigators believe the car drifted off the road before hitting the tree.
