St. Charles Borromeo Seminary to move to Gwynedd-Mercy University
For almost 190 years, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary has educated thousands of Catholic priests for service in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and other dioceses.
On Monday, the archdiocese announced the seminary would be moving from its long-time home at City and Lancaster avenues in the Overbrook section of Lower Merion to 15 acres of land and two buildings that it would purchase from Gwynedd-Mercy University in Lower Gwynedd.
The archdiocese will pay the university $10 million, plus the university will receive a $3 million donation from the Maguire Foundation. The St. Charles Seminary community is thrilled to have found such a wonderful new home, and grateful for the generous support of The Maguire Foundation in making this transaction possible, said Bishop Timothy C. Boy battling cancer becomes construction worker for the day

BENSALEM, Pa. - A little boy’s wish to become a construction worker came true Friday.
Nicholas Esposito, 4, from Conshohocken, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at a young age. He went through several rounds of chemo at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and is currently doing well.
He loves all things construction and is fascinated by the machinery, the dirt, and the digging.
From his hospital room, Nicholas watched the new Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania building being constructed during his 16 months of treatment.
On Friday, he had a blast riding in a dump truck, laying bricks and mortar. He even learned how to work a backhoe.
Behind the controls of a hulking John Deere excavator, Nicholas Esposito clutched the lever, navigated the bucket claw into a mountain of dirt, and emptied it into a dump truck.
And he did it like a boss, which was exactly the role the 4-year-old assumed Friday afternoon at EDA Contractors in Bensalem.
Wearing a hard hat, orange vest and a fully stocked tool belt around his tiny waist, Nicholas was the big guy on the job.
Or, as owner of EDA Contractors Ed DeAngelis called him, the CEO.
Clearing a tear from beneath her eye and leaning into her husband s shoulder, Dana Esposito soaked in a moment that her son dreamed about his entire young life, but especially in the last two years as he battled a neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer that took away his ability to walk for a while and nearly ended his life.
