(KMIZ) The Heidelberg and On the Rocks are just two of the downtown businesses that are preparing for an increased number of people to be downtown this weekend. Matt McGee, owner of On the Rocks bar said, The last few nights have been busy, whether that is due to the health order being lifted or graduation weekend is still up in the air. Manager of The Heidelberg, Richard Walls said they are completely booked up with reservations for Saturday night and have a few openings for Friday. He said with graduations being spread out more it has allowed for traffic flow to go smoother in restaurants.

Advocate says downtown Columbia businesses still need support as coronavirus threat lessens Published COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) The outlook is improving for small businesses in Columbia with low numbers of new coronavirus cases and the pending end of local health orders, an advocate for downtown business said Tuesday. However, Nickie Davis, executive director of The District, said small businesses here continue to feel the effects of a pandemic that has lasted more than a year and depressed economic activity as people stayed home, either by choice or by government order. Davis said within the last year, 25 businesses have closed while 23 have opened up.
