Redrow names new chairman Richard Akers will take over as chairman of Redrow, replacing long-serving board member John Tutte. Akers will join the board as an independent non-executive director on 1 June and will take over from Tutte as non-executive chair following the announcement of the company’s full-year results on 15 September. The former Land Securities executive also serves as non-executive director of student accommodation provider Unite Group and real estate investor Shaftesbury Plc. He stepped down as non-executive director of Barratt Developments earlier this month. Nick Hewson, the Redrow senior independent director who led the search for a new chair, said the housebuilder would  benefit from Akers’ “industry and commercial experience” gained during his career and time in various non-executive roles.
