NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday (May 5) pledged billions of dollars to boost its flagging vaccine programme as the country s new COVID-19 cases rose by 382,315, the 14th straight day of more than 300,000 cases.

Indian cricket s COVID curse has trapped everyone in its path - commentators, players, their bosses and now even governments. In some ways the furore which followed Michael Slater s outburst against Scott Morrison s Indian travel ban spotlighted the fact that every step in this COVID-challenged Indian Premier League has the potential to create volcanic debate and massive division.
Slater, who reportedly flew to the Maldives with no way back to Australia after the ban was introduced, said fellow citizens stranded in India were being neglected by their government.
âIf our government cared for the safety of Aussies they would allow us to get home,â he wrote. âItâs a disgrace!! Blood on your hands PM.
