PHOTOS: Comic Con Comes to Casper
It was a comic lover s dream. In fact, it was the dream of every type of nerd- comic fans, toy collectors, anime enthusiasts, and more. When the Ford Wyoming Center hosted Casper Comic Con on Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27, it brought together a veritable hodgepodge of all things nerd-dom.

Upon entering the arena and descending the stairs, you could see all sorts of colors, costumes, concepts and constructions. Look to your left and there was Harley Quinn. Look to your right and you d see The Shredder, along with an adorable Baby Mutant Ninja Turtle. Keep walking a little bit and you d see characters from Dragon Ball Z or Death Note. Cruella DeVille just walked by and you re both fascinated by and terrified of her.
For Jim and Karen Kanelos, owners of The Office Bar & Grill, fate was never something that either had ever really considered; at least, in regards to their own lives.
Theater of the Poor, a low-budget, high-performance theater troupe based in Casper took to the stage at the end of May and the beginning of June to present Mindgames: An Anthology. All of the proceeds from the event were donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and to The Trevor Project.

This collection of short plays consisted of three separate shows, each of which focused on mental health issues and the effects thereof. Mindgames, the titular play of the anthology, directed by Wallace Ayers, focuses on a therapist and his relationship with a client, or was it the other way around?
As the lights went down in the Ford Wyoming Center, right before some of the nation s elite athletes mounted their steeds for a night of roping, riding, and wrestling, they tipped their hats to a group of people who were nominated to be some of Casper s Hometown Heroes.

The people in question were Courtney Boland, Dr. Andy Dunn, and Tina Barnes.
Each of these people have impacted the community in their own ways, both big and small and, for that, the powers-that-be with the Ford Wyoming Center and the College National Finals Rodeo wanted to take a moment to honor them, these Hometown Heroes.

It began with a social media post, shared to many of the community classified pages. Can anyone tell me the name of this person? the post began. I have a severe neurological disability and have to use a wheelchair. This individual and his friends decided to steal my wheelchair from my place of employment Thursday June 10th. (That just happened to be the same day that I was sitting in a hospital hooked up to an IV receiving medical treatment.)They were seen riding it around in the downtown area. Specifically Wollcott and at David St Station. If you have any idea who he is please let me know.
