Howard Holds Off Determined Red Bank, 59-51
Hustin Tigers Now Face Top-Seed Tyner On Tuesday For 6-AA Tournament Title Saturday, February 20, 2021 - by John Hunt
James Talley wasn’t taking any chances.
The spirited Howard basketball coach knows how tough it is to beat the same team three times in the same season, so he spent most of the day on Saturday reminding his Hustlin’ Tigers about that fact and that they needed to stay focused on the job at hand.
Talley’s message must have hit home because Howard was able to beat the Red Bank Lions for the third time, Saturday’s final at Henry Bowles Gymnasium by a 59-51 margin.
Red Bank Dominates Boards In Win Over Central
East Hamilton Girls Defeat Red Bank Friday, January 29, 2021 - by Joseph Dycus
Red Bank’s big man Cam Bell had the ball in open space and possessed a 20-point lead, some springy legs, and a vibrant imagination. Instead of going for a simple two-hander over the top, Bell channeled his inner Zach Lavine by spiking the ball off the court and catching the ball as it came down, before barely dunking it in. The fact that the referee dared to call a double-dribble didn’t really matter for a Lions team on their way to a fun 61-40 win over Chattanooga Central.

It’s been almost two months since the Red Bank Lions had played an official basketball game and coach Nick Fike wasn’t really sure what to expect, but things turned out just fine on Tuesday night at the Susan Ingram Thurman Gymnasium as the Lions pulled away in the second half for a convincing 57-29 victory over the Signal Mountain Eagles.
Red Bank improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in District 6-AA play while the Eagles fall to 2-5 overall and 1-0 in 6-AA.
