San Antonio loves spooky shit, and local artist and curator Vidvad Scare always understands the assignment.
For his latest exhibition, “The Duality of Monsters,” he’s rounded up a massive roster of artists to showcase their takes on beings and creatures with dual natures for example, the infamous Dr. Jekyll and his monstrous alter ego Mr. Hyde.

For years, street artist Shek Vega has wanted to paint something on the wall of the E-Z Wash laundromat at Southcross Boulevard and Zarzamora Street.
“I drive that route almost every day, if not two times a day,” said Vega, who grew up just a few blocks away and still lives in the neighborhood. “I’ve always seen that wall, either really white or with graffiti on it, and I always wanted to create something in that space.

The San Antonio Street Art Initiative is a nonprofit charity that supports artists through career development programming and economic development through community beautification projects. Two-thirds of the Board was born and raised on the south side of San Antonio and so it is no surprise that a mural incentive has launched there as part of their mission.
