WARREN – The Warren Police Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying the man who is the suspected shooter at a Warren business Wednesday. Officers have released the photo of the suspected shooter in an incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in a Youngstown Road SE Warren smoke shop. The victim was shot several times at point-blank range. Anyone with information regarding the identity is asked to contact Detective Nick Carney at 330-841-2660. Police have identified the victim as Maurice E. Evans, 20, of Tod Avenue SW. The police report did not give an updated condition report other than Evans suffered “major” injuries.

Police were called about 5:20 p.m. to the Little Brothers Smoke Shop at 1329 Youngstown Road SE and found the man shot multiple times at point-blank range. A report identified him as Maurice E. Evans, 20, of Tod Avenue SW. According to a Trumbull County 911 call sheet, Evans was shot in his back, side and arms. A witness told authorities a gray Pontiac took off in the direction of Laird Avenue toward East Market Street just after the shooting. The witness told police she saw the driver reverse at high speed and saw a single driver, but could not identify if the driver was a man or woman. The description she gave was a light-skinned black individual wearing a black mask.
