More than 100 Sri Lankans return to the country

Another group of expatriates from Qatar and Saudi Arabia were brought to the island this morning, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) sources said. Accordingly, 75 from Saudi Arabia and 29 from Qatar are among those expatriates and all of them will be sent to Quarantine Centres, managed by tri forces for necessary quarantine process.

Parliamentary Business committee convenes today

Committee on Parliamentary Business to meet under the patronage of the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. The Committee on Parliament Business was to decide on the Business of the House for the Parliamentary Week which is scheduled to commence on January 19. It was previously scheduled to be held on January 13, but was postponed to today on the instructions of the Speaker.

Women and Child Development, Pre-School & Primary Education, School Infrastructure & Education Services State Minister Piyal Nishantha has tested positive for COVID-19.10 staff members of the Minister have been ordered to self qurantine. He becomes the fourth Parliamentarian to test positive after Dayasiri Jayasekara, Rauff Hakeem and Vasu Nanayakkara.
